Biography

Growing up in a suburb of Washington DC among politicians and news as an Byrne Mazzella loved storytelling from day 1. As a young child they were an avid fiction reader and massive Pixar fan. Following artistic exploration across mediums, experimenting with poetry, prose, and theatre, Byrne began to focus on filmmaking in early high school upon taking an intro to film course and never looked back. From action and comedy to horror and romance, genre is one of their favorite tools to use in storytelling.

Since arriving at Ithaca College, they've written and directed 4 short films, and have received credit on 15 other projects in positions ranging from Producer to Assistant Director to Sound Recordist. Other accolades include being a two-time Recipient of the Pendleton Production Grant, Finalist for the Pendleton Award at Ithaca College, and a nominee for Best North American Student Short at the Alternative Film Festival in Toronto. 

They relocated to Los Angeles in late 2024 and are expected to graduate with a BFA in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts in May 2025.
