Growing up as a child of Pixar movies and paperback adventures, Byrne Mazzella loved the thrill of storytelling from day 1. As a young child in the suburbs of Washington DC they were an avid consumer of movies, television, books, and news, basically anything they could get their hands on. Following artistic exploration across mediums, experimenting with poetry, prose, and theatre, Byrne began to focus on filmmaking in early high school upon taking an intro to film course and never looked back. From action and comedy to horror and romance, genre is one of their favorite tools to use in storytelling.
During their time at Ithaca College, they wrote and directed 4 short films and received credit on 15 other projects, in positions ranging from Producer to Assistant Director to Sound Recordist. Other accolades include being a two-time Recipient of the Pendleton Production Grant, Finalist for the Pendleton Award at Ithaca College, and a nominee for Best North American Student Short at the Alternative Film Festival in Toronto.
They recently graduated from Ithaca College with a BFA in Film, Photography & Visual Arts, and relocated to Los Angeles, California in early 2025.
